Kauai extends 14-day quarantine through June 30, 2020

Kauai Mayor Kawakami signed a new emergency rule extending the mandatory 14-day quarantine of for incoming travelers through June 30, 2020.

Through 1:30pm EDT, May 14, 2020, Oahu, Maui and Hawaii (Big) Island have not extended their mandatory quarantine past May 31, 2020, however, we would not be surprised to see more extensions.

From our observations of press conferences and interviews with Hawaii government officials, a plan of COVID-19 testing prior to traveling to Hawaii is favored. We shared the basic concept of the testing plan earlier this week. (This concept now has a name, “Travel with Aloha.”) From what we’re hearing, this plan will likely need to be established in order to end the 14-day mandatory quarantine.
